The HPE ProLiant ML350 G5 server is designed with reliability, expandability, performance and environmental features that continue to make it one of the most flexible tower servers in the world. The best word to describe the ML350 server is 'dual'. Re: Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G5 Hello Mickey, While upgrading to 2nd processor, it has been seen that the server will not work, unless you install the new processor in the first slot.
Hi peoples
I have a HP DL380 G8 that currently only has one CPU installed, E2609 V2.
I have purchased a second E-2609 CPU for it along with the additional 2 fans and heatsink but when I install the CPU, the system does not boot.
There is a red light on the server which only clears once the CPU is removed.
I have 2 16 gb slots of memory and balance this with one in each channel A, prior to installing the CPU. I think I am doing it right, but clearly I am missing something. I have tried the CPU in slot 1 and it powers up fine, so it doesnt appear to be a CPU issue.
Any advice is really appreciated,
cheers

Pretty sure the processors would work just fine but not sure if the heat sinks would be compatible. How different do they look between the dell and HP. As for warranty it depends on what broke I suppose. Its always a sticky one this because if a drive goes they cant say its because you messed about with it. Obviously the CPU's wouldn't be covered but there is also a chance they could turn their back on something like the mother board as well. Personally I would probably assume it doesn't have a warranty any more. I good read through the conditions should answer your questions though. I am also surprised they cant provide processors. How can they honour a warranty if they don't have the parts to repair?
