Early Notes
To do: The Japanese versions (Memo_tgs.res and Memo.res) contain some differences as well. |
An earlier draft of Dixie's Notes can be found inside the file Memo_tgs_us.res. Most of it is just grammar and formatting fixes, along with some minor rewrites.

Regional Differences
Jam Mode / Beat-Mix
The Japanese version reuses the 'Jam Mode' from the first Donkey Konga. In this mode, all the required beats to play are covered up with a barrel. This means you have to memorize which beats to play, which is pretty much impossible to do.
This mode was replaced with a more fair and enjoyable 'Beat-Mix' mode in the American and European versions. In this mode, the beats that you need play are different each time you play a song.

Donkey Konga is a GameCube rhythm game starring the ape Donkey Kong, developed by Namco and published by Nintendo. Instead of the standard GameCube controllers, the game is intended to be played with a special controller called the DK Bongos that resemble two small bongo drums.
Donkey Konga was developed by the same team of people who made the Taiko: Drum Master. There are around 30 songs, including hits such as Louie Louie, We Will Rock You, Shining Star and Rock Lobster. There are songs from the Mario series, the The Legend of Zelda series and other Nintendo related music. The Japanese, European, and North American versions have different track lists.

DK Bongos and the GameCube Controller to PC USB Adapters
If using an USB adapter (not to be confused with the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U), the DK Bongos will work with Dolphin. Some adapters may not have the analog trigger support needed for the microphone to work, so make sure it is a fully functional USB adapter. Set Port 1 to 'DK Bongos' in the 'Controller Configuration' window; this is needed for real bongos to work properly.
